The Kids Boost Immunity (KBI) French Pilot Project aims to raise literacy around immunization for children through a series of articles, videos and online quizzes linked to francophone and French-immersion school curriculum. KBI is a made-in-B.C. program that was developed over several years and involves many partnerships. For more information go to www.kidsboostimmunity.com

Timeline: Temporary P/T contract (20 hrs/wk, October 2019 – July 2020)

Location: Must be based in the Lower Mainland. Work location is flexible; however, the Project Coordinator must be able to commute to ResoSanté, BC Centre for Disease Control, and School District 93 offices for meetings (locations in Vancouver and Richmond), and travel to schools throughout the Lower Mainland and potentially to other regions in BC.

Reporting to: KBI National Project Manager

Language of work: Bilingual (French/English)

Work hours: Flexible daytime hours (between 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday)

Responsibilities

The KBI French Pilot Project Coordinator is a hands-on role that includes responsibility for these key areas:

  • Work with ResoSanté and Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (SD 93) to identify the best approaches for the French pilot project in BC
  • Interview school administrators and teachers working in both francophone and French immersion schools to identify their needs
  • Develop KBI promotional materials to support outreach to teachers for the pilot project
  • Work with site developers and recruit site testing volunteers to test the site to ensure the French language on-line platform is fully functional
  • Identify and fill translation gaps where needed on the site
  • Contact schools and confirm at least 10 schools across BC willing to try KBI in their classrooms, including schools most affected by the recent measles outbreak
  • Organize presentations about KBI for schools or teacher professional development days
  • Provide training and support for teachers and schools who are participating in the pilot project (this includes being available to respond within 24hrs to any new teacher registrations and questions related to KBI once the pilot project is launched)
  • Evaluate the pilot project and produce a summary report for project partners
  • Share the summary report with project partners, including participating teachers and schools

Qualifications:

Required

  • Fully Bilingual (fluent in French and English, strong oral and written)
  • Outstanding interpersonal and client service skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication and written skills
  • Strong computer skills and comfort using digital technology
  • Support for the objectives of KBI and recognition of the importance of immunization for health

Assets

  • Experience as a project coordinator
  • Experience in the Education sector (e.g., experience or training as a teacher)
  • Knowledge of immunization and communicable disease prevention
