our team! We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and compassionate Child & Youth
Counsellor to work with children and youth (aged 3-18) who have witnessed abuse or
violence.
The counsellor provides one-to-one, family, and group counselling, education and
advocacy for children and youth, emotional support, and psychoeducation to parents
and caregivers. Prevention and outreach work is also integral to this role. You will help
promote awareness and education about the impact of violence on children in our
community and collaborate with community service providers.

21 hours weekly, flexible schedule, but requires the necessary availability
to work with this age range, including evening hours
$32.02 to $33.97 based on education and experience
Eligibility for group benefits after probation
Start Date: As soon as possible
Education, Training, Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology or a related field
and equivalent combination of education and 3 or more years of related recent
experience working in community-based services providing individual and group
services to children, families and caregivers
• Art therapy diploma, and professional membership with CATA/BCATA (an asset)
• Strong facilitation skills complement your counselling experience in community
settings
• Clear understanding of the issues of the impact of abuse and violence against
women and children
• Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Additional Requirements
• Successful completion of criminal record check
• Valid BC Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle
• Ability to function with flexibility and independence
• Participation in team meetings and agency events
• Valid CPR (for children)
